Halloween Night

This post is a little late...

How was everyone's Halloween? Joey was in New Orleans at the American Dental Association convention, so we were missin him like crazy, but the kids had a great time trick or treating and an even a better time passing out candy once we got home. We were excited to have Nana (my mom) and Auntie Toni (my sister-in-law) over to hang out with us!

Trick or Treating

This was the first attempt at a family picture...haha!

For a little fun Halloween treat I made rice krispie treats that looked like candy corn (thank you Pinterest). It was a little more challenging than I was expecting, but they tasted good!

**I didn't get a chance to take pictures of the first steps. I was knee deep in figuring out what to do**

To make them:

 -  I started out making a traditional Rice Krispie treat marshmellow/butter mixture, but then separated it into three separate bowls.

- I added orange food coloring to one, yellow to the another, and left one white.

-Then I divided up the amount of Rice Krispies the recipe called for and added them to each bowl.

**The tricky part is that the yellow needs more Rice Krispies because it is the biggest layer when you put them in the pan. Orange is the middle amount and then white has the least. I have yet to figure our the proper ratios because I had too much white and not enough yellow. I made it work and just added yellow food coloring to the white!

- After mixing the marshmellow/butter mixture and the Rice Krispies together I put them in the pan like this starting with the yellow ring first, then the orange, then the white:

-After letting them cool over night I cut them like you would a pizza. For fun I wrapped them in saran wrap and tied a bow at the top. I gave them out to family that stopped by or we went to see and I of course had one! I think I could eat an entire tray of Rice Krispie treats!
