Pumpkin Patch

Today I ventured out to the Gilcrease Orchard by myself with the two babes to get pumpkins. This was the first time the kids had ever been to a pumpkin patch, so I was super excited! It turned out to be a little more difficult that I was expecting, but we had fun! When you get there they have wagons available for hauling your kids to the pumpkin patch and then for the pumpkins on the way back. I had brought my stroller, but the lady working there suggested I take a wagon instead...not sure if it was easier because Jojo insisted he pull the wagon the entire time!

As you can see Jojo pulled the wagon while Bellamy popped in and out of it. What I hadn't realized was how long the walk was from the entrance of the orchard to the actual pumpkin patch. This was the journey that this years pumpkin patch memories were made of! Along the path there was a small hay maze that the kids played in. Bellamy wasn't quite sure about it, but Jojo had fun climbing on the hay bales and running around.

After the maze we finally made it to the pumpkin patch! It reminded me of the type of pumpkin patch I used to go to when we lived in California. When we first moved to Las Vegas I thought it was so odd that you could buy pumpkins and Christmas trees from a tent on the side of a busy road. Needless to say, when I heard that Gilcrease had an actual patch I couldn't wait to bring my kids here!

He found a broken part of the sprinkler system.

Once he found the sprinkler he was more interested in that than the pumpkins.

I asked a mom walking by us to take our picture...pretty darn good!

They were done.
The trek back to pay for our pumpkins was a little rough since the kids were kind of over it by then. After holding Bellamy and trying to get Jojo, the pokey little puppy, to keep up with me I talked him into riding in the wagon. I asked him if he could keep our pumpkins safe and ride with them...he agreed!
Yep...he's kissing the pumpkin. :)
They were such troopers and I am so glad we went. Creating traditions is such a big thing for me since I grew up with so many wonderful ones! This is definitely a place we'll go back to year after year.

  2. Thanks for sharing these memorable times. What blessing and joy it brings to my heart...it is so fun seeing JoJo and Bellamy, (our next generation) experiencing family traditions.
